Manufacturing Technology Center Manager

The Manager will have responsibility for the overall success of the Swagelok – Solon Technology Center – managing all aspects of a customer responsive engineering, fabrication, and assembly business unit. He/She will ensure that the centers goals and objectives

are accomplished for all the services that we provide, including Custom Solutions, Tools and Equipment Services, etc. Insures that location follows all technology center policies, procedures, and certifications. Will create operating plan based on strategy

set by Regional Management and Swagelok factory. Plans, directs and coordinates activities of the 60 associate team per the factory’s requirements and policy. In addition, acts as communication liaison among distributors, Technology Centers and factory.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

• Responsible for the engineering and design of products/services offered with daily oversight from the factory, Custom Solutions and ETOP.

• Responsible for production and meeting customer delivery expectations

• Responsible for coordination of training of all engineering and shop floor associates

• Provides vision, guidance, and direction in the development and execution of the business/operating plan based on strategy set by regional and factory management

• Plan annual budget and headcount for the Technology Center

• Aligns site to corporate mission, vision, and values

• Builds up the capacity and capability based on the sales and operating plan for Custom Solution.

• Ensures the Custom Solution’s quote and order service levels are met

• Provides appropriate feedback to distributor and factory

• Displays leadership by fostering teamwork and collaboration and sharing information and ideas among global technology centers

• Prepares and submits timely and complete financial or operating reports as requested by factory or regional management

• Manage, coordinate and facilitate customer tours at the Technology Center

• Work with local distributorship to promote the Customer Solutions Services and Equipment Services. Provide training to the sales team as needed.

• Promote and enhance Swagelok’s image and reputation as the market leader by developing and maintaining high-level relationships with key market and customer personnel

• Develops a highly skilled and motivated workforce through the attraction of top talent and management of their overall development

• Engages and motivates others through effective communication of the goals and objectives of the technology center.

• Facilitate group meetings and effectively presents and interacts with associates at all levels of the organization

• Has the ability to deeply understand work processes and their overall fit into a larger delivery scope for the Technology Center

• Drive changes within and outside of the department to improve processes

• Manage key departmental projects/tasks directing the work of the departmental resources and through the service requests from the external departments

Budget responsibility (if applicable) - Single Site budget responsibilities < $500,000

RequirementsEducation and/or Work Experience Requirements:

Required:

Education: BS degree in engineering plus appropriate continuous training/education.

Preferred:

Experience: 3-5 years of supervisory experience in engineering or operations with related products and/or manufacturing processes, holding positions of increasing responsibility that provided substantial contact with cross functional departments. Prior customer

contact/service experience and cost estimating/quoting preferred and prior experience in compliance or certifications is beneficial.

Understanding of broad business practices including Accounting basics, Cost Management & Reporting, MRP Systems, Production Management Tools, Process Control & Quality Management Tools, Advanced Manufacturing Strategies in a low volume environment are beneficial.

Skills/Knowledge: Proven abilities in leadership including evaluating, encouraging, motivating, disciplining and rewarding others. Applies experience and knowledge at an organization level. Demonstrates innovative thinking and sound judgment with the ability

to complete major and complex projects and to manage multiple projects simultaneously. Advanced problem solving and significant decision making abilities. Strong project management and organizational skills. Excellent oral and written communication. Excellent

computer and typical office software skills.
